What is Clinical Reflexology?
Firstly, Clinical Reflexology is not foot massage and is not a medical treatment. Reflexologists are not trained to diagnose illness, practice medicine, or treat specific diseases.
Clinical reflexology, unlike traditional reflexology, takes a more targeted and evidence-based approach, incorporating a deeper understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology. It is a specialised form of reflexology that focuses on applying pressure to specific points on the feet to promote healing and relaxation. Unlike traditional reflexology, which primarily aims to enhance overall well-being, clinical reflexology is typically used as a complementary therapy to support conventional medical treatments.
It is increasingly recognised as a valuable therapy in the field of integrative healthcare and is used to support individuals with a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional conditions. Trained clinical reflexologists work closely with their clients to address individual health concerns and tailor treatment plans accordingly.
By applying gentle pressure and massage techniques to specific reflex points, they aim to alleviate symptoms, reduce stress, and enhance the body's natural healing mechanisms. Clinical reflexology is not only a relaxing and enjoyable therapy, but it also offers a personalized and holistic approach to healthcare that can complement conventional treatments and promote overall well-being.

Conditions that may prevent treatment:
Conditions that may restrict treatment:
For some medical conditions I will request you seek advice from your health professional whether this be doctor, specialist, midwife, or other health professional, before I fully commit to treatment as I do not want to be aggravating conditions and causing more harm than good.
Surgery, injury, or infection please wait until fully healed before booking in.
Shingles, sepsis, and fever, please ensure you have been given all clear and are no longer running a high temperature before booking an appointment.
Effects of Clinical Reflexology
Clients may experience some of the following effects during a Clinical Reflexology session:
These effects are completely normal but please if you are feeling uncomfortable, please advise your therapist so adaptions can be made.
There can be short term effects that usually happen within 12-24 hours after treatment which are completely normal and a sign that the treatment is working:
These effects should disappear after 24-48 hours. To reduce the effects, it is important that the client follows the aftercare and homecare advice given. Should symptoms persist for more than 48 hours, please contact your GP.
Consultation
To ensure an effective, safe, and satisfactory treatment is preformed, a consultation must be performed before each treatment. This is to ensure an accurate assessment can be given after each treatment and before the following session.
Note:
It is important to note that while clinical reflexology can be used as a complementary therapy, it should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment!
Should you have any queries regarding this treatment please contact me to discuss.
