What is Reflexology?
Firstly, Reflexology is not foot massage and is not a medical treatment. Reflexologists are not trained to diagnose illness, practice medicine, or treat specific diseases.
Reflexology is an ancient practice that has gained popularity in recent years as a natural and holistic approach to health and well-being. It is based on the belief that there are reflex points on the feet, hands, and ears that correspond to different organs and systems of the body. By applying pressure to these specific points, reflexologists believe they can stimulate the body's natural healing processes and restore balance.
The practice of reflexology dates back thousands of years to ancient Egypt, China, and India, where it was used as a form of therapy to promote relaxation, alleviate pain, and improve overall health. Today, reflexology is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional medicine to relieve stress, reduce pain, improve circulation, and enhance the body's natural ability to heal itself.
During a reflexology session, a trained practitioner will use their hands, fingers, and thumbs to apply pressure and massage specific points on the feet, hands, or ears. This pressure can range from gentle to firm, depending on the individual's comfort level. This stimulation is believed to correspond to the body's internal organs, promoting relaxation and improving overall well-being.
Whether you are seeking relief from a specific ailment or simply looking to relax and unwind, reflexology offers a natural and non-invasive option to support your health and well-being.

Effects of Reflexology
Clients may experience some of the following effects during a reflexology session:
These effects are completely normal but please if you are feeling uncomfortable, please advise your therapist so adaptions can be made.
There can be short term effects that usually happen within 12-24 hours after treatment which are completely normal and a sign that the treatment is working:
These effects should disappear after 24-48 hours. To reduce the effects, it is important that the client follows the aftercare and homecare advice given. Should symptoms persist for more than 48 hours, please contact your GP.
Consultation
To ensure an effective, safe, and satisfactory treatment is preformed, a consultation must be performed before each treatment. This is to ensure an accurate assessment can be given after each treatment and before the following session.
Note:
It is important to note that while reflexology can be used as a complementary therapy, it should not be used as a substitute for medical treatment!
